Who: Rolo and Suzaku
When: January 22nd
Where: Random Alleyway
What: Rolo, after being submitted to punishments for letting prisoners go, has escaped the Mendolia. He's not doing too well though.
Warnings: PG: for a beaten up Rolo?

[ It was hard to run with chest pains, but Rolo pressed onward. He didn't care if using his powers to escape killed him, he certainly wasn't going to die a prisoner...an experiment. Ever since he learned that there was a little bit more to life then just his job, Rolo was beginning to feel like maybe what he had been doing was wrong.

Granted, all that landed him was being locked in a cell for what seemed like forever. He could still feel the effects of the shots they gave him, but he kept running. When he finally got into an alleyway, he slumped against the wall, holding onto his side.

Rolo's face was bruised, only slightly patched up from the beating he received from Abele the night he let Suzaku go. It was then that the Mendolia leader decided to take his best assassin and turn him back into an Experiment. Sighing, Rolo tried to shake the memories from his mind, but found that he couldn't. Slouching further down and curling his knees closer to himself, he let out a shaky breath...At least if he died, he wouldn't be laying on a table....]

[He lets the matter drop. Whatever reasons Rolo had, he didn't need to guess at]

As I recall, I owed you one.

I suppose. [ Rolo reached up to touch his forehead. His eyes narrow when he thinks about what happened. There's definitely no way he could go back...]

I don't know if you've done me any good.

[ He doesn't mean that to be ungrateful; Rolo's just unsure if it's a good idea for him to even still be alive. ]

Could've said the same thing to you, a while back.

[And in the end he didn't get as much information as he'd hoped to, so he does feel he can say that.

Still, it was a kindness on Rolo's part]

It was better that you didn't stay there. [ Rolo responds faster then he intended, letting out a small breath to calm himself. ]

...You don't need to know what they do.

I could make similar arguments about your employ.

Ultimately, it's my job to find that information. As far as "need to" goes, it's my assignment.

[ Rolo sighs loudly, looking over at him ] Don't you think there are better ways to find information?

Considering the level of progress by those means, no.

Why not just ask? I'm sure there are a ton of spies around.

[ He was one of them...]

I can't be certain any information I received was reliable.

[Straightforward thinker, this fellow]

Maybe someday, I'll talk. [ But not right now, he still feels a fair amount of loyalty...]

I don't expect you to, so you don't need to be concerned with that.

[After all, Rolo helped him out once. Not only that, but the guy's clearly been through something pretty bad]

[ Rolo took in another shaky breath, looking a little expressionless for a moment. It's obvious in his eyes how much it hurts him to say it but... ] I don't have a home anymore, so I don't care what happens.

You still wanted to live.

[It's what comes to mind immediately, almost without thought.

A part of Rolo obviously cared enough to try and survive. That wasn't to be overlooked]

I'm regretting it. I don't know what there is to live for...[ Rolo's confused by his own thought process right now ]

[It's a bit strange, the way Rolo is talking. Suzaku chalks it up to exhaustion]

You'll figure it out. Most people have to, at some point.

I guess. [ Squinting at the ceiling, it's like he's trying to stay awake for a little bit longer...after a long pause, he just quietly says it ]

Everything's sore.

Figured you might be. Those injuries looked pretty bad, but you should heal just fine with enough rest.

[ There's another long pause before...] Thanks...Suzaku.

[ He gives up on trying to be rude, it's too exhausting for him. Falling back asleep, Rolo's breathing a little bit easier now. ]

[Suzaku remains silent, going back to reading. He's not sure if what he's done is the right thing, but he doesn't think he could've acted differently]

pretty well, just busy with game closing stuff and grandma things

oh man...is she doing okay?

her surgery went okay, but we found out hte cancer affected her lymph nodes so she has to have chemo

...geez that's tough. hope it isn't too rough on her and doesn't take too much of that treatment

me too. Apparently it's only a few lymphnodes, so I'm hoping she won't have to do a lot of it.
