[CLOSED BACKLOG] Evening, January 3

Who: Riku and Roxas
When: January 3rd
Where: Early Evening
What: Riku's burned himself out too much to make it home, so Roxas is adventuring out to find him.
Warnings: Cute babies None!

[ Riku let out a ragged breath for a moment. He knew he shouldn't have used his shield while trying to use his other abilities as well, but it was hard to make sure that family was safe. It was obvious they had got him a few times, given that his lip was cut and his eye was turning a little purple. It was worth it to know that family was safe and back in their home, though.

Trying to get up, Riku hissed and grabbed his side. Stupid Mendolia cronies. They may have not been the brightest, but they packed a punch for sure...

Not only that, but he was worried about Roxas going out. It wasn't safe and Riku suspected his memory loss was from using his abilities. Sighing, he just held his gun close and stayed where he was, mumbling to himself ]

Please let him be safe...

[ Riku nods, rubbing his neck. He pulls on his hat and stuffs his hair back into it, then pulled his hood up. He still kept his gun out. ]

You ready?

[cloak]

[Roxas nodded, tugging his hood back over his head]

I am. How about you?

[blackmagician]

[ Riku takes in a breath and nods as he goes to the door. His movements are stiff, but he tries to get a move on. ]

Yeah. Lets get home.

[ With that he opens the door, looking around before making sure the other goes out ahead of him. He could keep a better eye on him that way. ]

[cloak]

[After a beat, Roxas hurries outside, looking around before gesturing for Riku to follow. He preferred to be in the lead in this situation himself, fairly confident he knew which areas to avoid and how to best get them home without any trouble.

[ Riku followed after, being observant to what was going on around them while Roxas led. He could feel his eye getting more swollen but he tried to shake it off.

Not speaking, Riku tightened the grip around his white gun, making sure he'd have enough bullets to get home. They got fairly close when Riku heard a loud voice and a gun shot.

Quickly, he grabbed Roxas' hand and instinctively pulled him closer, ready to shield them if he had to. It was a skirmish nearby, but they had caught the attention of one of the smaller fighters. ]

[cloak]

[Although Roxas was pulled back, he could see they'd been spotted. He moved between the person watching them and Riku, well aware his friend was most likely more injured than he was letting on, dead still as he watched that person's face.

They were seen, that much was obvious. But what that person might do when he had other people to fight, Roxas wasn't so sure of...]

[blackmagician]

[ Riku heard the gunshot and reacted quickly. He shot himself and moved his arm up to raise the shield around them. Immediately, he could feel the cold wave over his body, but he pushed on, looking down to Roxas ]

Just keep moving okay? We'll get home safe.

[ He knew it was a stupid idea, but he had to make sure Roxas was safe. ]

[cloak]

[Seeing that energy thrown up in front of him, Roxas turned toward Riku, catching his sleeve]

Don't do that, you're going to wear yourself out-

[Another shot dragged Roxas' attention back to their attacker, frowning in the shadows of his hood when he saw the group had turned their attention from each other to the two of them]

...You can't keep this up if they all come at us.

[blackmagician]

I've got to try. [ A small wince as he recovers quickly ] All we have to do is get back to the apartment.

I don't want you to use your powers if you don't have to considering...

[cloak]

[Roxas is already tugging a gun out of his pocket, however]

It's not so bad. At least you'd be there when I woke up, right?

[blackmagician]

Of course.

[ But Riku still worries, putting a hand on Roxas' to stop him ]

But still, lets use it as a last resort...

[cloak]

I don't think they'll just forget we're here.

[That and Riku's always so determined to act as a shield]

[blackmagician]

They aren't the ones I'm worried about. As long as my shield is up, we'll be safe until we can get home.

[ He's got a Roxas to protect! ]

[cloak]

I can tell you're not okay.

[And with that being said, he's nudging away from Riku and heading toward their pursuers, steps measured]

[ Riku tried to pull him back, but winced when a sharp pain was at his side. Cursing under his breath, he at least tried to keep Roxas protected from a distance. ]

Just be careful.
